A few weeks ago, Tesco had a noticably massive jump up in prices. Then did a big advertising campaign saying "Prices locked until Easter". Now they are plastering discounts galore with that annoying smiling lady. I shall name the advertising campaign "the great British rip off".
Would be good to see which supermarkets have more of a stable price history for products rather than ramping up prices and then apply a "discount"
Hi there,
Wow, that's a huge issue - thank you for passing this on. I can only imagine how many shoppers could fall victim to something like this.
I'll take that into the next discussion we have and see what we can do to highlight store behaviour like this.
In the meantime, you'll be able to see the Grocery Price Index which highlights how average prices have gone up month-by-month across UK's largest stores over the last year:

Thanks again for reaching out to help make Trolley.co.uk a better place to save.

Thank you Saeed. A case in point, I have the small Nescafé boxes of lattes. Its my one treat I look forward to. In Nov-22, they were £1.69 full price but reduced to £1.50 in Tesco. They jumped up to £2.10 in Jan-23. Today I noticed that Morrisons have put the price upto £3. I feel like big brands need to be held to account over these rip off prices. Inflation will never come down thanks to these Charlatans.
Great idea!
