Delighted to see extended functionality such as lists enabled without an account, disgusted to see core price comparison functionality hidden behind a registration wall that requires personal information. Completely unnecessary and anti-consumer, the antithesis of what I thought this site stood for.
Hi there,
You're absolutely right - it's not what we stand for and we're hoping we can remove this restriction in future.
As Trolley.co.uk grows in popularity, more and more bots visit our Price Comparison - we're not entirely sure what the bots are doing with the data but as a safety measure, we have limited access to these pages. This increased bot usage comes at an added cost and it's something we simply can't afford. We're currently struggling to accommodate our real users and have already crashed a few times within the last few weeks.
To provide some context:
All of the above takes bandwidth and is costly to maintain. Unfortunately, it's even more so to upgrade our existing servers to handle the load.
We're committed to privacy and we don't share any personal details outside of Trolley.co.uk.
We've tried to make this as minimal as possible and accounts only require a name, email, and password. If it's preferable, any random word will work as a choice for the name and accounts are instantly deletable from within Account Settings.
I apologise for any inconvenience and I hope this hasn't deterred you from allowing us to help you save on your groceries.
Sid

Completely unnecessary and anti-consumer to insist on a registration that requires personal information.
You are just going to lose users to www.mysupermarketcompare.co.uk
@user641323757fbdb THE MYSUPERMARKETCOMPARE IS SO OUT OF DATE LOOKED AT ONE ITEM LISTED £1 CLICKED TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET WAS £1.35 LAST UPDATED 10 MARCH WEEK OUT OF DATE NOT CURRENT PRICES UNFORTUNATLEY
Thanks for the alternative mate, this forced account creation is probably to say "look we got loads of accounts"
@user64134d1984651 And that's how they get funding. How do you think businesses work?
..."just shows U" th@ humans R only "out 4 themselves".
...after "leaning on" users 2 pay 4 their (sumtimes inaccurate & incomplete) source-data which applies 2 "online only".
...after duplicate product pages "time & time again" specifically 4 Sainsburys prices.
(possibly as dictated by Sainsburys as a "deal maker")
...after incomplete & inaccurate reporting of historical prices as "lowest" & "usually".
...if TESCO had the 5th most expensive price 4 non-clubcard customers but a "top 4" cheapest price 4 clubcard customers, it wouldn't B visible, "go figure" yourself Trolley.
...should B re-branded "off ya Trolley.co.uk".

it is going more like other sites, collect data and email, later on sell them to 3rd pt or use for spam without saying anything
today deals not work also, product have fake start price or link goes to wrong product like mostly ebay sites, trolley was good on beginning now it starting adding worse and worse things

...still no "U-turn" so still ignorant.
@user642710e6e35be indeed, thought id come back to see if there was any change but alas no
Come back to see if this had changed, oh well, ill check back another time.
I can appreciate why you want to offer some incentive for users to create an account. However to say this is to prevent bots scraping your website is not correct. The data is clearly visible in the HTML and it's just the CSS and page layout that is covering up the results. No bots are being thwarted here, only human users.
@user648cdd7ecd631 The only sane comment in this feedback section.
Could you add Home Bargains to your list of stores.
Can you add Home Bargain
Still need an account to view all stores, good god.
