changed description from "Please can we be able to sort by unit? For example sort by price per 100g. Often sorting by cheapest doesn't actually show what's the best value. " to "Please can we be able to sort by unit? For example sort by price per 100g. Currently, sorting by cheapest doesn't actually show what's the best value. "
That's a genius idea - especially for people who aren't so maths-savvy like me.
We're currently working on getting the Price Per Units standardised so that they're the same across different sizes of the same product which might take a little while.
After that, that's definitely something we should consider.
@trolley@user64334577c4980 this is a little aggressive but your are right. Can we get the maths sorted first. The price/100g doesn't actually match with the product price....
@trolley ... unit price vs weight/volume price needs to be thought about by an experienced shopper/consumer. ie ... detergent 'pods' should be per pod (item), loose laundry powder per average use per wash, instant/bean coffee per 100g, milk (or any liquid) per 100ml etc etc
just joined and this was one of the first sort options I looked for - cost per unit - be that £/100g or £/100ml or £each etc.
helps me make sure I'm getting the 'best bang for my buck'
I just signed up to Trolley after finding it by chance to see if there was finally a replacement for the old mySupermarket app, I'm so pleased to find there was at long last. Being able to sort search results by unit (e.g. per item, or per 100g etc) is the only real way to get the best value for money, many supermarkets already offer this option and I always use it so I was disappointed to find it wasn't an option on Trolley. Buying in bulk sadly isn't always the cheapest so you really do have to troll through all he items and pack sizes to find the best value for money. Please bring us this feature as soon as you can. Keep up the great work!!! :)
I was thinking the same thing, another vote for this! It would seem essiential for a price tracker and comparison website to have a sort function for 'value'/'price-per-[unit]'.
Is it not a requirement for most items to have a unit cost like this listed with the price?
I’ve just been comparing Fairy dishwasher tablets. Some packs are 16p per tablet, others only 11p, then I compare a different size pack of the same tablets and they are 6p per 100g. That is no help at all.
The basic order needs to be 1st relevance then sorting by unit price. So if someone searches olive oil they get the cheapest per litre.
Sorting by price seems totally useless as size is irrelevant and so are the vast majority of the results.
Please can items be sorted by unit price, i.e. per 100gm, as many before have said it would really make things easier to compare the cheapest items. Mysupermarket used to do this. Otherwise it's a great app
Indeed. "Each" gives no idea at all. I could set up a company and sell 100 weighing at 1 gram each or 10 at 10 grams each. The public has no idea at all on the true cost
The obvious choice for me. Considering that this data is available. Until I can sort my searches in this most logical but forgotten order I shall not be signing up.
One other thing worth noting discounters such as Iceland have a near permanent 3 for a tenner offer on many of their mix n match bags of frozen food. This does not appear to be tracked. In most cases it renders these items one third lower priced per unit.
The fact that those offers are over a range of categories means that you can buy just one of e.g. seafood mix, lamb mince, prawns.
Fully agree, need to be able to sort by cost per 100 g or 100 ml to be able to compare and choose the best and make sure the indicated numbers are correct. Sometimes they are wrong . Thanks
I'd like to add my'vote' for better price per unit information; looking at preserved lemons you are giving the price per 100g of net weight, which for this type of product is irrelevant as the customer would not normally use the liquid. The figure displayed should be price per drained weight, which in this example :

This would be very useful

Thanks for the feedback!

@trolley I would first actually do your maths correctly. https://www.trolley.co.uk/product/cadbury-dairy-milk-little-bars/TNK507. Clearly that is not 15p per 100g.

@trolley any news on this? Struggling to compare Fairy Platinum dishwasher tablets when some are unit priced and some priced per 100g!! Ta

@trolley ... if there is a reduced or sale price, the 'per unit' price should reflect the new/latest/temporary price.
This would be amazing and so helpful!
Yes! The my supermarket app did that & it was fantastic
just joined and this was one of the first sort options I looked for - cost per unit - be that £/100g or £/100ml or £each etc.

Another vote for this feature
Please add this feature ASAP, would help with the cost of living crisis!
Surely price/100g or price/100ml is a fundamental requirement for this website to succeed.
Also eat within 'n' days/weeks for shorter life items would be useful.
(make no sense bulk buying if we just increase waste)
Information like this helps the consumer make smart choices in reducing packaging, which helps the environment.
Finally thank you for this nearly brilliant website, which consumers so need to stand a chance against the big supermarkets max profit strategy.

Has to be accurate, where can I get bacon at 16 pence for 100g

@alecraven Agree!! Some tablets are by unit, sone by 100g!!! Aaargh!

Sort by product name / brand name would also be useful as I don't know what the default sort order is for my list
Agree entirely.
Agree entirely with the comments above.

Ditto on this, this is the true form of sorting by cheapest, either by the litre or by the kilo
The obvious choice for me. Considering that this data is available. Until I can sort my searches in this most logical but forgotten order I shall not be signing up.

Yes please!
